For an in-depth, educational experience, the Discovery Tour of Hoover Dam is for you. On the way home, stop off at Ethel M Chocolate Factory and Botanical Cactus Gardens. Hoover Dam straddles the mighty Colorado River, which forms the border between the states of Nevada and Arizona. Considered to be the world's largest dam and an engineering marvel at the time of its construction in the 1930s, Hoover Dam brings much-needed water and power to the Southwest. |

16 years in the making, these backyard scenes are just a small part of Lou Banning's fabulous Back Yard Garden Railway and 1 1/2" scale railroads. Just to put this layout in proper perspective, look at the Stamp Mill in the upper right photo. The small, almost hard to see track in front of the Mill is G scale. The Stamp Mill is about 8 feet long. With 1300 feet of G scale track and 3300 feet of 1 1/2" track, you are going to have a great time on this tour, ride on the 1 1/2" scale cars, and enjoy your free sack lunch on the back yard lawn. Two other layouts are also being scheduled for this tour before we get to Lou's backyard. |
