Non-Rail Events, Clinics and Tours
We have listed all Non-Rail events here in chronological order so it will be easier to see what is going on at any given time.
All Non-Rail activities will be held in the San Clemente Room. This room will also serve as the Non-Rail Lounge and will be open all day during the convention.
Wednesday, September 8
Meet and Greet With Bingo, Wednesday 4-5 PM, Monarch 2 room
Come and hear what is planned for the Convention! There will be sodas and cookies, and Bingo prizes. Cost to play is $1 per board.
Thursday, September 9
Tour of the Nixon Library, Thursday 9.30AM - around 3PM
Our 2.5 hours docent led tour will feature items from Richard Nixon’s childhood to his internment on the property. These include items relating to Watergate and the missing tapes, and many of Pat Nixon’s dresses and accessories. The tour will include Nixon’s childhood home and the Presidential helicopter ( helicopter is non-ADA). Lunch is included and will be after the tour at a restaurant to be determined.
We meet at the Non-Rail room to arrange carpooling at 9:30 am. Return time should be around 3 pm. Price $35.

Friday, September 10
Sand Art clinic, Friday, September 10, 8-9 AM, San Clemente Room

Whale Watching Tour, Friday, September 10, 9.30 AM - 1 PM
While this is normally not prime whale watching time, a large number of whales and dolphins were sighted during trips at this time in 2020. Bar with snacks available for purchase. Except for about 3 steps, the boat is ADA compliant. Lunch (not included) is on your own and you need your own transportation to get to the site. Price $25.
Those going on the Whale watching tour will meet at the Non-Rail room at 9:30 am to arrange carpooling. The tour begins at 10.30 AM and lasts until 12:30 to 1 PM.

Saturday, September 11
Build a floating locket, necklace or earrings, Saturday, September 11, 11-12 AM, San Clemente Room
Clinician: Annette Palmer
In this clinic you will be able to make your own floating locket or earrings or a regular necklace. I will provide all materials needed. There is no charge for this clinic. Just come and have some fun making something you would like to wear.

Ongoing Events
There are several shopping opportunities not far from the hotel. South Coast Plaza has Nordstrom’s, Macy’s, and Lord & Taylor as anchor stores. There are many upscale stores and restaurants available. Old Town Orange maybe be familiar as it is a favorite location for movies and television shows. There are many antique stores and small restaurants. Tustin Old Town Historical Area is a smaller version of Old Town Orange. Bowers Museum in Santa Ana has permanent exhibitions showing Orange County history, Native American, Pacific Islander, and African objects. You may have lunch at their restaurant on the premises.
Raffle
There will be special raffle prizes aimed at the Non-Rail participants. Sale of tickets will be open during the whole convention and the drawing will be held at the Awards Banquet on Saturday.
